Homemade Hand Sanitizer & Recipe for the Family
Hand sanitizers can be very helpful but most commercially available hand sanitizers contain alcohol, which is very drying and irritating to the skin. There is a great sanitizer that has been used for years called thieves’ oil. This can be purchased already made up or you and your family can make it yourselves using pure essential oils.
Recipe: Glass Bottle, Filtered Water, Aloe Gel (experiment with the proportions of water and aloe gel. Aloe gel keeps the mixture smooth and is softening for the hands. Dr. Sant suggests 1 part aloe gel to 2 parts of water), Cinnamon Oil (2-3 drops), Clove Oil (2-3 drops), Rosemary Oil (2-3 drops), Eucalyptus Oil (2-3 drops), Lemon, Orange or Grapefruit Oil (5-10 drops; used for scent). All these oils have anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties. The citrus oils are added for scent as well as for their therapeutic value.
